Overview

In this project, my teammate and I designed a three-stage amplifier to meet the design specifications below.​​​ 

The design process consisted of hand calculations, Cadence simulation, circuit building and measurement. ​​​​​​​

Stages of the Designed Circuit

Stage 1 - Common Emitter with Degeneration

        want large gain to meet the midband voltage requirement

        get high input impedance 

Stage 2 - Common Emitter with Degeneration 

        want large gain to meet the midband voltage requirement

Stage 3 - Common Collector

        obtain 3dB cutoff frequency

        get small output impedance

Through many Cadence simulations and in-lab verification, we finalized our circuit as below.
